“ Good food, service is a bit slow. They appear to be understaffed. The cocktails look good although we didn't try them this time. The biryani and kothu were excellent and truly authentic. The special chicken 65 is just chicken 65 in butter chicken sauce - felt a bit lazy and underwhelming. Would definitely come back to try more dishes though. ”
“ The service at Mr. Chai-Wala was outstanding despite the busy Friday night rush, and all of the staff went above and beyond providing good service. They were extremely friendly and helpful, and I had a really lovely experience because of them! I have regrettably forgotten our server’s name, but I believe it started with a “J”. He was super sweet and deserves a raise Unfortunately I have to say that the food didn’t really match up to the level of service. We ordered: - Okra Fries: I always order these from Indian restaurants and was disappointed with their take on them. Not crispy and the sauce (raita) didn’t pair well with it in my opinion. - Paneer Chennai’s 65: Decent, but also didn’t feel like the raita went well with it. - Chicken Chettinad Curry: Not that tasty and the chicken was not as tender as I would’ve liked. - Mango Lassi: Delicious and a good portion size! - Parotta: I love parotta so I’m just happy whenever it’s on the menu! Decent. - Papadam: Oiler than I’ve had before. I wish they provided more sauces like chutney or pickles., however they only seem to have raita which they served with the other things that we ordered. Maybe it’s just common in more westernised Indian restaurants? Perhaps I ordered poorly and should’ve picked other dishes! A diner from another table mentioned that the lamb chops were one of the best things they’ve ever eaten, so maybe that’s one for me to try next time. ”
“ We came Sunday evening, place was very busy, it took some time while we ordered and got the food, no complaints, just saying so people know it can take some time. I ordered the food not marked as spicy, but sauce was extra spicy on my taste, but I get it and no complaints also as I came to experience Indian food, so just saying for people who don’t tolerate spice, better ask if food is spicy, even it’s not mentioned with hot pepper next to it - it might be spicy. Overall atmosphere was very friendly, people working here are nice and welcoming. I enjoyed the time. ”
“ I would recommend Parotta and chettinad chicken. The taste was very authentic and the atmosphere family friendly. We were a family of 8 and were warmly welcomed by the waiters. Special mention for the crab curry and pepper baby corn. ”
“ This had been our first time at Mr Chaiwala and our experience was absolutely amazing. The food taste was really authentic. Esp. Samosas, Chettinad curry and Kerala patotta made us feel like home. They also have several South Indian delicacies that majority of the Indian restaurants in Berlin do not serve. The ambience was also outstanding. We would definitely visit again and I would recommend others to do so as well. ”
“ We went when they were almost going to shut the restaurant, hence it was a bit noisier than the usual. but as a Indian this is the first time I’m having authentic Indian Food which matches the level of taste back in India. Also as we had vegetarian because my friend was vegan, we couldn’t taste the meat options - so if they can make veg food this great then I wonder the level of taste in the meat menus. Will definitely go here again ”
“ This is my first time to try the south Indian cuisine. Coming from a Punjabi family and was practically bred on Alu Parathas, but their Masala Dosa converted me. I may lose my inheritance but I can’t go back on Parathas, Dosa is way to go ;) (mite be bias as my wife has gluten allergies). Their Biryani is much to be desired and it felt just like spicy rice with meat (will stick to my own Mughali Biryani) To wash up the spicy food, tried their Gajjar Halva which was just sublime and brilliant. Will revisit soon. ”
